THE EKTIMIS RESPECT MODEL REVIEW
Return to the EKTIMIS RESPECT MODEL main page
Human Respect Layer

EKTIMIS Respect Model - Human Respect Layer

This layer is the horizontal layer that runs across the base of the pyramid. This layer illustrates a common (practical) method of manifesting respect - Human Respect. This mode of respect is rooted in each of the two basic kinds of respect: recognition respect, associated with our ability to recognize the essence of human dignity in ourselves and in others; and appraisal respect, associated with our capability to evaluate certain qualities and attributes about ourselves and about other people.

The main factors that drive this mode of manifesting respect are a person's degree of self-respect and a person's personal value system.

Positional Respect Layer

EKTIMIS Respect Model - Positional Respect Layer

This layer is the horizontal layer that runs across the middle part of the pyramid. This layer illustrates a common (practical) method of manifesting respect - Positional Respect. This mode of respect is rooted in one of the two basic kinds of respect: recognition respect, associated with our ability to recognize an important role or position of relative importance that someone holds.

The main factors that drive this mode of manifesting respect are authority, power, influence and status.

Earned Respect Layer

EKTIMIS Respect Model - Earned Respect Layer

This layer is the horizontal layer that runs across the top of the pyramid. This layer illustrates a common (practical) method of manifesting respect - Earned Respect. This mode of respect is rooted in one of the two basic kinds of respect: appraisal respect, associated with our inherent and developed ability to assess and evaluate certain attributes about other people.

The main factors that drive this mode of manifesting respect are a person's appearance (dress presentation and hygiene), speech (what is said), action (what is done), association (circle of relationships), circumstance (past and present), and principles (beliefs).

The Base

EKTIMIS Respect Model - The Base

The base appears in the area below the pyramid. This region illustrates the six key factors that forge a person's (personal) value system at a very young age. The presence and the degree of each factor contributes to a person's unique psychological system for recognizing and evaluating people and things around us as well as matters of importance. As a person grows and matures, one's environment and life experiences continue to reshape this value system over time.
